A shocking reaction has followed widespread reports that First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu will lead a national prayer session aimed at addressing the numerous challenges facing Nigerians.

Nigerians on the micro-blogging platform, X, expressed their displeasure at the reports after Chief Segun Balogun Afolorunikan, Director General of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), confirmed the news.

The followers indicated that Nigeria needs hardworking leaders, not just prayers. Their comments align with those of singer Jesse Jagz, who emphasized in a recent podcast interview that prayer alone cannot build roads or buy books, encouraging citizens to focus less on religious rhetoric.

According to Afolorunikan, the initiative, which will be coordinated with Christian and Muslim religious leaders, seeks divine intervention for the country's social, economic, and security issues under the theme 'Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria's Affairs.'

He stated that this interfaith gathering represents a collective response, aiming to foster resilience among citizens and inspire leaders to find lasting solutions for the nation's stability.

The prayer sessions will span a week, with Muslims gathering at the National Mosque for recitations of the Qur'an by 313 participants, totaling 2,191 recitations dedicated to national peace.

Simultaneously, Christians will meet at the National Ecumenical Centre, with prayer warriors from various denominations focusing on Nigeria's ongoing challenges.
