'They rejoice when mediocrity reigns' - Video of police officers celebrating sack of Alkali Baba causes stir

Nigerian police officers have been lambasted by social media users after a video of some officers celebrating the removal Alkali Baba as Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently announced the retirement of IGP Usman Alkali Baba and the appointment of Kayode Egbetokun as the new IGP.

Following the release of this information, a video showing several police officers celebrating the outcome has surfaced.

Many online users responded to the video by claiming that the police are happy since they may now continue with their different pranks as no authority will watch over them.

They continued by saying that Usman Baba, the previous IGP, kept them on their toes and instilled discipline in them hence the reason they are happy that he is gone.
