'They're doing this because of the economy' - Ned Nwoko 'supports' Boko Haram

Ned Nwoko Ned Nwoko

Billionaire businessman and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ned Nwoko has opined that terrorist and secessionist groups within the country should be given a hearing by the Nigerian government.

According to him, the government has spent lots of money killing these people who also happen to be Nigerians. He added that the more they are killed, the more they recruit new Nigerians into their groups.

He advised that there are lots of terrorism and kidnapping activities because of the nation's bad economy and inequality; and that it was vital that the government truly listens to them and identify the best ways to solve these problems.

He said: "We have Boko Haram, ESN, Oduduwa and the rest of them. Let's hear them out. Let's find a way forward. Enough of the killings. So much has been spent. We talk about kinetics in Nigeria. It's a new language in Nigeria. Everybody is talking about spending money to kill them. Kill who? They are Nigerians.

"You go about killing them, bombing them, and then they are relentless. They are recruiting more people. They are also killing our soldiers. Killing innocent people. Kidnappings and bandits everywhere.

"But most of these people are doing what they are doing because of the economy. It boils down to the economy. If the economy sustainable, If the economy is good for everybody and the system is fair to all, you are not going to see anybody fighting to be independent. Or fighting that the system is bad.

"So what I'm proposing is that, the national assembly over a 3-month period, will convene a platform, where all groups are to be heard, and let's try and get everybody to be heard."
