These are the most read stories of 2020

The year has been a roller coaster ride for a number of Nigerians.

Despite starting off on a good note for some people, the impact of the coronavirus pandemic affected and distorted the plans of many others.

The virus, coupled with a number of other notable events altered, in one way or another, the lives of Nigerians. As usual, MyNigeria gave you complete coverage of these events.

As usual, this year's Big Brother Naija became the go-to reality show for most people on the continent. The drama, rivalry, and romance from the annual event was enough distraction for a lot of people.



Erica and Kiddwaya, the two housemates who grabbed the headline the most were caught allegedly having sex.

South Africans took to social media with the hashtag #NigeriaMustFall after a video from Parkland showed a lady dancing naked to the amusement of some Nigerians.

The generated anger from South Africans who are now calling for all Nigerians to be sent packing from their country.

According to them, Nigerians are the brain behind vices like selling drugs and rape in their country.

Their call comes almost a year after a xenophobic attack was carried out on Nigerians in South Africa.

As the demand for dollar rises, price of rice drops in Lagos market

As buyers and traders countdown to yuletide which is days from now and one major good that is often in high demand during Christmas is rice.

This period, whilst most goods are very expensive according to sellers, rice dealers revealed there’s been a reduction in the cost price of imported rice and stability in the cost price of local rice.



INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu to handover on Monday

The incumbent Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu handed over to an acting Chairman on Monday, November 9.

While President Muhammadu Buhari re-nominated Yakubu and sent his name to the Senate for confirmation, the acting chairman is expected to pilot the affairs of the commission till the Senate confirms Yakubu’s re-nomination or otherwise.



Nigerians doubt claim that Ibidun Ighodalo died of heart attack, demand the truth

The death of Ibidun Ighodalo indeed was one of the sad moments of 2020. Her death cast a dark cloud across the country with a section poking holes into the claim that Ibidun Ighodalo, a former Lux beauty queen, died of a heart attack.

Before her death, she was the wife of Pastor Ituah Ighodalo of Trinity House Church. She was found dead inside a hotel room in Port Harcourt in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Nigerian business magnate, Femi Otedola paid lovebirds, Temi and Eazi a visit. One of the most silent yet powerful couples, the couple showed us how to stay popular and romantic.
