There should be no poverty in Nigeria — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that Nigerians should not live in poverty, restating his administration’s commitment to supporting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the country.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the president highlighted Nigeria’s abundance of human and natural resources, stressing that these assets must be harnessed to improve citizens' living standards.

He cited Cross River State as an example, noting that its fertile land enables it to grow nearly every crop.

“The Federal Government intends to plant 100 million oil palm trees — more than any other state. Cross River has an advantage,” he said.

President Tinubu noted that since assuming office, his administration has prioritized access to capital and committed to supporting ventures that redefine the future of work, skills, and industry.

He praised the Cross River State Government for establishing a state-of-the-art communication and technology hub for MSMEs.

According to him, the hub will provide affordable access to high-speed internet, modern equipment, and collaborative spaces that foster innovation across diverse markets.

“The digital world has space for the market woman in Ikom, the furniture maker in Calabar, and the fashion designer in Ogoja, Ugep, or Odukpani,” Tinubu said.

“This is why my administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a commitment to creating an environment where MSMEs not only survive but thrive. Our commitment is not just to give loans or grants, but to build an ecosystem that provides infrastructure and enhances the creativity of entrepreneurs.”

In his remarks, Governor Bassey Otu described the 8th MSME Clinic as a strategic initiative between the Cross River State Government and the Federal Government to drive enterprise development and innovation.

President Tinubu emphasized that access to capital and support for forward-looking ventures are key pillars of his government’s industrial and economic agenda.
