Former Barcelona striker Gary Lineker has shared his thoughts on why top European clubs snubbed the signing of Victor Osimhen this summer.
Prior to his permanent move to Galatasaray, Osimhen attracted interest from several top Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Arsenal, all reportedly keen on securing his signature.
Current European champions Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be interested in signing the Super Eagles striker.
Speaking on why these elite European clubs refused to sign Osimhen, the former England striker believes his questionable character may have discouraged suitors from pursuing the deal.
“I saw Osimhen play a couple of times against Leicester when they were in the Europa League,” the former Barcelona forward said.
“He was so impressive, and I’ve followed his career because of that. He was absolutely brilliant for Napoli—I mean, he was sensational.
“I do hear on the grapevine that one reason a few clubs are a little bit nervous is that he sometimes goes missing for a few days. So, there’s apparently some kind of slight question mark regarding his character in that sense,” Lineker concluded.
