There might not be APC when Buhari leaves power - Fayemi

Kayode Fayemi Kayode Fayemi

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, may not remain a party after the end of the tenure of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Fayemi, however, stated that the crisis rocking the party is being made a mountain out of a mole hill.

Speaking on governors within the party already battling against the national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, Fayemi said: "Adams and I were governors the same time before I went on sabbatical and he continued with a second term in office. He is also my personal friend. I am not the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), but I am an active member."

He added that if the structure needed to make the party more inclusive, it may collapse after Buhari's regime ends.

"If we are not careful; if we do not institutionalise processes and procedures in the party and make it more inclusive than it is, we will not have a party when President Muhammadu Buhari leaves government. This is because he is the unifying force of our party," Fayemi warns.
