A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila on his appointment as Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fani Kayode who has earlier announced the appointment of Dele Alake as the Presidential Spokesman in a now-deleted Instagram post says Gbajabiamila's appointment was based on merit, loyalty, and competence.

Gbajabiamila, a seasoned legislator is set to forfeit his Surulere 1 seat in the 10th National Assembly if confirmed.

Fani Kayode wrote on Instagram: "Congratulations to my friend and brother of over 40 years, the Hon. Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on a well-deserved appointment as Chief of Staff to our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."

"This appointment proves to the world that in this dispensation and under this administration appointments are made based on merit, loyalty and competence."

"The Speaker's courage, resilience, determination, sense of justice and commitment is second to none and I am very proud of him."

"I wish him well in his new assignment and I have no doubt that he will do an excellent job."

"May God continue to bless, guide and protect him."

However, when approached by newsmen to comment on his appointment, Gbajabiamila neither confirmed nor denied the information.

He urged Nigerians to be patient about the announcement, adding that the system works in its own way.

“Let the system follow its course,” he added.
