The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has dismissed viral reports that it intends to increase the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol.

In a post shared on X (formerly called Twitter), the retail arm of NNPC debunked the media reports that fuel would rise to between N680/liter and N720/liter in the coming weeks.

In a move to swiftly quell these rumors, NNPC Retail emphasized that there is no intention to implement such a price hike.

"Dear esteemed customers, we at NNPC Retail value your patronage, and we do not have the intention to increase our PMS pump prices as widely speculated. Please buy the best quality products at the most affordable prices at our NNPC Retail Stations nationwide," NNPC Limited in a tweet.

This tweet has generated mixed reactions on social media.
