Lawyer and Vice-President of the Synergies Institute-Ghana, Ogochukwu Nweke has stated that the Northern parts of Nigeria need enlightenment and education to control the Fulani herdsmen crises.

He made the statement in an interview with MyNigeria on Sunday, February 14, 2021.

“If we are truly going to bring a lasting solution to the menace of Fulani herdsmen while we are doing the ranching is we must also pay attention to how education is viewed and embraced in the North," he said.

He also added that Nigerians generally have to look at other ways of thriving in the economy other than the nomadic way of doing things.

"We need to come to a point where people need to accept the fact that this nomadic way of life as far as cattle rearing is concerned, as far as business is concerned should be looked at again so that they do not see it as their only way of life through which they can do their business and achieve profit or productivity that they desire.

"They need to come to understand that being put in a certain place or space is not slavery, it is not been put in bondage but is dealing with the realities of the day.

"And so that orientation and re-orientation is something that the government must invest in and stop running away from," he concluded.
