Social media users have reacted to a skit posted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as the agency continues efforts to create public awareness about its mandate.
The video, which has since generated widespread reactions online, seeks to caution public officials against engaging in corrupt practices while holding public office.
In the skit, a public official is shown attempting to explain how he was able to purchase a Rolls-Royce using only his annual salary and allowances, a claim presented in a satirical tone.
“The eagle will not be deceived,” the EFCC captioned the video.
The post has attracted mixed reactions, with many users weighing in on the agency’s use of social media as a tool to educate Nigerians on anti-corruption issues.
Popular blog Gistreel reacted, stating, “The eagle eye sees all.”
A user identified as adadiofuoyuman commented, “So what if I contest for a local government position and I win, and then my husband supports my official car with a Rolls-Royce?”
Another user, Tinny_alhaji, wrote, “Eagle, have you looked into the activities of local governments in Lagos? I’m sure it’s an interesting area to review. I dey smell embezzlement in that area.”
