'The defaulter was found guilty as charged' - Police demote female officer after live TikTok video

A female police officer has been demoted from the rank of Sergeant to corporal for violating the Nigeria Police Force’s policy on the use of social media.

The officer identified as Anemena Favour was demoted over what the force described as “discreditable conduct” and disobedience of lawful orders.

Her number 068919 and attached to a Special Protection Unit (SPU) Base 25 in Asaba, Delta State.

Her woes began when she went live on TikTok dressed in a police uniform – a violation of established regulations and conduct of officers within the force.

Reports indicate that Favour is currently facing disciplinary action, which will be in sequel to a review of an orderly-room proceeding by the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Found guilty under Paragraphs E(iii) and F of Police Regulation 370, Act 2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) 2020, the female officer was immediately demoted.

A police source said, “The defaulter was found guilty as charged.”

He also said that the DFA upheld the sanctions meted to Favour – including the demotion of rank – which is aimed at serving as a deterrent to other officers.

He added that all relevant departments within the Police Force have been directed to update their files to reflect Favour’s new tank.
