A coordinated attack has been carried out by gunmen that invaded Gwana district in Alkaleri LGA of Bauchi State, leading to the killing of at least four persons and abduction of dozens in the evening of Friday.

The attack also triggered mass displacement, with unspecified number of women and girls also been abducted.

According human rights organization, Amnesty International, the attack is vicious and demonstrates a contemptible disregard for human life.

"This deplorable attack took place at a time when the villagers were breaking their fast during the holy month of Ramadan and demonstrates escalating security crisis that is making life a hell for rural communities.

"This crisis is expanding and getting out of hand.," Amnesty said.

The organization urged the Nigerian authorities to do more to protect lives of the people and bring the suspected perpetrators of all such attacks to justice.
