The election of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to elect new executives is currently taking place at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.

According to TVC News, sporadic gunshots were fired around the International Conference Centre in the Federal Capital Territory.

To avoid being hit by a stray bullet, police used tear gas to disperse the crowd.

On Wednesday, November 29, Sahara Reporters reported that a gunshot rocked the old parade ground in the Federal Capital Territory, which was the earlier venue for the NANS' convention, citing a video it obtained.

NANS is the umbrella body of Nigerian tertiary institution students, and the convention was meant to produce a new set of national leaders for the body.

Citing a source, the medium said some students sustained injury during the attacks. It added that the attackers, who came with guns and machetes, were thugs allegedly loyal to a candidate who was the anointed candidate of President Bola Tinubu's son, Seyi.
