Tension as Nigerians fight to gain access into a bank to swap old notes

As the deadline for the swapping of old Naira notes draws near, a large number of Nigerians have been seen fighting and struggling to make their way to the banks.

In a video making rounds, some citizens were captured struggling to enter the banking halls to swap the old naira notes for new ones.

Another video showed citizens fighting among themselves in other to access the ATMs.

The Central Bank of Nigeria had initially maintained the date of expiration for the old notes which led to extreme tension and uneasiness at the banks.

After several appeal, President Buhari approved a 10-day extension to encourage more Nigerians to deposit the old notes.

Large crowds have been gathering at the banks with many struggling to make their way into the banking halls.
