Nigerians have flooded Bolanle Austen-Peters’ social media accounts, urging her to appeal to her father, Afe Babalola, to release human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi.

This comes after an X user, human rights activist, Omotayo Williams, made the appeal, stating that Farotimi is not a criminal and should not be subjected to such treatment.

He wrote, “This is the Twitter and Instagram handle of Afe Babalola’s daughter. Kindly inform her to appeal to her father and the police to uphold the law. Dele Farotimi is not a criminal, and such levels of impunity must cease.”

Farotimi was arrested by the Ekiti State Police on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, and subsequently remanded to prison. Despite the denial of bail, the court adjourned the case to December 10.

The arrest of Farotimi has sparked widespread outrage, prompting numerous notable individuals and institutions to demand his release.

As a result, Nigerians have taken to Afe Babalola’s daughter’s social media pages to appeal to her to entreat her father to free Farotimi.
