Some unknown persons have reportedly invaded the residence of the mother of a Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho.

The Nation reported that Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki confirmed the incident.

Koiki claimed one of the attackers was arrested while two others escaped. He said the arrested suspect has been taken to the police station.

According to Vanguard, the spokesperson disclosed that the attack occurred around 7.45 pm on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

He said: “When interrogated, he said they were informed that Chief Igboho would be coming to see his mother. We have taken the man to Igboho Police Station for further interrogation.”

Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has dismissed claims by a Sunday Igboho that some Nigerian military personnel were on a spying mission at his residence before they were apprehended.

In a statement sent to Legit.ng on Saturday, March 20 by its acting director, Defence Media Operations, the DHQ said it has no interest in dragging or joining issues with Igboho or his associates.

He also warned individuals and groups to desist from disparaging the reputation of the Nigerian military by dragging it into political issues.

In another news, Sunday Igboho has warned those creating disunity in the Yoruba nation to desist and work towards the goal of achieving unity among the Yoruba race irrespective of political affiliation.

Igboho was reacting to a statement by an Oodua Peoples Congress leader in Oyo who recently told journalists in the state that Chief Femi Fani-Kayode is a misinformation expert.
