Surelere 1 constituency celebrates Desmond Elliot's re-election

Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Elliot is reported to have won his constituency.

This comes after videos of him celebrating with constituents in Surulere 1 on Saturday, March 18 emerged on social media.

The result for his constituency has not been officially declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He his reported to have polled 17,837 votes.

Earlier, Desmond Elliot had paid a visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

He made this known via his Instagram page. He captioned the video with him and the speaker: "Many many many thanks to my Father, mentor, leader and speaker of the nation @speakergbaja Rep Femi Gbajabiamila Thank you boss. Most grateful
@olanrewaju_smart thank you dear brother"

Meanwhile, reactions have trailed his celebratory video.

Recall that Desmond Elliot had condemned the attack on the campaign team of his Labour Party opponent, Olumide Oworu.

Hoodlums had attacked some supporters of the Labour Party (LP) in the Surulere area of Lagos on Thursday, injuring some members of the party.

Oworu tweeted, on Thursday, that thugs invaded his campaign rally which held on Tuesday at Iponri, Surulere.

He wrote, “My team and I were attacked on Tuesday as we attempted to campaign at Iponri, Surulere. A member of my team was injured, but we are thankful the incident didn’t escalate past the level it was. The case has been reported at the Iponri police station.
