Super Eagles will give their best against Benin — Troost-Ekong

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has stated that the team will give their maximum best against Benin Republic in their last FIFA World Cup qualifier.

Nigeria will take on Eric Chelle's side at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, later today (Tuesday, October 14).

The three-time African champions currently sit third in Group C with 14 points after nine games.

Benin Republic sit at the apex of the group with 17 points, with South Africa in second place with 15 points.

Nigeria must beat Benin Republic and hope South Africa drop points against Rwanda to have a chance of qualifying for the Mundial next year.

Speaking ahead of the crucial encounter, Troost-Ekong stated that despite the fact that Nigeria's hopes are not in their hands, they will give their all against Benin Republic.

“There are players here who want to make names for themselves, and those who will want their names to go down well in history. So, they are fully prepared and will play to win,” Troost-Ekong said at a press conference.

“Tomorrow may not be 100 per cent in our hands, but we try to do our best and win the match.”
