Sunday Igboho: Don’t set your state on fire - Fayose warns Makinde

Following the order given by the IGP Mohammed Adamu, for the arrest of a Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, for asking the Fulani herdsmen to vacate Oyo state within seven days, Ayo Fayose has advised Governor Seyi Makinde to treat the issue with caution.

Legit.ng reports that Fayose, who is the immediate past governor of Ekiti state, told Governor Makinde of Oyo state to use dialogue and persuasion instead of escalating tension in his own state by calling for Igboho's arrest or anyone at this time.

The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who gave the advice via his Twitter handle, @GovAyoFayose, said if some governors could ‘dialogue’ with Boko Haram terrorists, Governor Makinde calling all stakeholders to a round-table discussion would not be a misplaced action.

He tweeted: "Governor Seyi Makinde should rather use dialogue and persuasion instead of escalating tension in his own state by calling for the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo or anyone at this time."

The former governor, however, noted that any attempt to arrest anyone would cause a further threat to the already fragile peace in the southwest and the country as a whole.
