Olukosi of Ilukosi-Ijesa, Oba Omotoyoosi Akinyele, has slammed the Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Muhammad Abubakar, for always speaking up when people call out the ethnicity of kidnappers in Nigeria.
Recently, the Sultan spoke against ethnic profiling after people in Southwest began flushing out Fulani settlers from their forest, following the kidnap of over 40 schoolchildren by bandits in Oyo State.
With his Fulani ethnic group mostly affected, the Sultan spoke up, warning against ethnic profiling.
He said, “Give them their proper name—criminals. Don’t call them Fulani, Tiv, Yoruba, Muslim or Christian. Criminality has no religion or ethnicity. Evil people exist everywhere and should be treated as such.”
Reacting, Oba Akinyele slammed the monarch for only finding his voice when Fulanis are affected.
He said on X, "Sultan always feel threatened when people questions those kidnapping our people and chanting Allahu Akbar when murdering our people, but he will never utter a word when his Fulani tribe causes destruction and deaths to our people. Yeye Dey smell."
