Subsidy removal will cut down on avoidable wastage - Oluwo counsels

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has admitted that the removal of subsidy on petrol, Premium Motor Spirit, PMS will cut down on avoidable wastage.

Oluwo also urged Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the fuel subsidy regime suspension.

Making this known via a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem on Friday, he also stated that subsidy removal regime is to stop the illegal enriching of few individuals at the detriment of the Nigerian masses.

In his words, "The long term effect will be to the advantage of the innocent Nigerians."

He described President Tinubu as an administrator with key interest in people's welfare.

Oluwo while imploring Nigerians to endure the temporary hardship, assured that there will be multiplication of dividends of democracy.

While expressing optimism for the suspension of the subsidy, he lamented that it was inimical to the growth of Nigeria and admonished the President to put up temporary measures to cushion its immediate effect on the economy.
