Stop misleading Nigerians, Tinubu allocated 52% road projects to North - Ohanaeze

Ohanaeze Ohanaeze

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has urged former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and other Northern politicians to refrain from misinforming Nigerians and distracting the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, over road project allocations.

In a statement signed by its Deputy President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, on Wednesday, Ohanaeze addressed the criticisms directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Umahi, describing them as unfounded and politically motivated.

The group said available evidence presented by the Works Minister showed that the Northern region alone received 52 per cent of all road construction projects under the current administration.

Ohanaeze condemned what it described as a pattern of disinformation being championed by some Northern political figures, including Babachir Lawal and Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

It accused them of attempting to undermine the administration’s achievements and provoke division ahead of the 2027 elections.

The organisation maintained that such attacks not only misrepresent facts but also aim to destabilise national unity and the government’s development agenda.

It warned that the persistent campaign against Senator Umahi’s efforts and President Tinubu’s leadership could derail the country’s collective progress.

Ohanaeze called on all political actors to embrace constructive engagement rather than indulge in what it described as petty politics and a campaign of calumny.

The group reaffirmed its support for the Tinubu administration and Senator Umahi, urging all stakeholders to prioritise unity and national interest.
