Afrobeats artiste King Ajaa has sparked a lively conversation across social media after urging young men to reconsider their dating standards, advising them to stop enabling financially dependent partners who transfer their family responsibilities onto their boyfriends.
In a viral video posted to his social media handles, the musician detailed a personal experience with a woman he met recently that completely shifted his perspective on modern relationships.
"I met this girl about ten days ago. Honestly speaking, I didn't even know she was doing well for herself. I saw this fine girl taking a bike, spoke to her, she gave me her number, and we started talking. And this girl can keep conversations," King Ajaa shared.
The artiste revealed his surprise when, just days into knowing each other, the woman drove to his residence and brought along food, including ingredients for his favorite dish, Egusi soup, purchased entirely with her own funds.
"She drove to come and see me. This has not happened to me this whole year," he noted, praising her gesture as a breath of fresh air.
Using his experience to address young men, King Ajaa cautioned against dating partners who expect men to carry heavy financial burdens while they are still working to establish themselves.
"We need to stop dating broke girls because these girls will just transfer all their parents' responsibility to you. What their parents could not do for them is what they will give you as a boyfriend who is just trying to come up for yourself," he stated.
Concluding his message, the musician called on men to stop enabling financially entitled behavior and open themselves up to dating self-sufficient, responsible partners.
"Stop enabling all those girls. There are rich girls out there, and you never know, you might just go for a rich girl and bag a reasonable person," he said.
