The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its best wishes to former President Goodluck Jonathan in his retirement, urging him to enjoy his time away from the political arena while safeguarding his reputation.
Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the party's spokesperson, responded to recent comments by Professor Jerry Gana of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who suggested that Jonathan might run for president again in 2027.
Oladejo dismissed Gana’s remarks as premature, emphasising that political contests should be centred on ideas and performance rather than resurrecting past leaders.
He said, “Prof. Gana cannot decide alone who will be the PDP candidate, adding that this shows the party still has problems with fairness and internal democracy.
“If Jonathan tries to run again, it will not be easy for him because of past records and other challenges. Nigerians should focus on real issues like food, electricity, transport, jobs, and security. President Bola Tinubu is already working on reforms to grow the economy and improve people’s lives.”
