Rapper Speed Darlington has fled Nigeria for the U.S. after being declared wanted by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
This was after the rapper made a video in which he admitted to having sex with a minor in a hotel room. The video sparked outrage among Nigerians, who also unearthed other videos of the rapper to suggest that it was a habitual behaviour for him.
In response, Speed Darlington issued a statement, saying, "For the sake of clarity, I reiterate that the said Instagram video was made for purely entertainment purposes only and does not reflect any previous or future event involving my person with any female; minor or Major. Sadly, what was meant to be a joke has been blown out of proportion by persons looking for fault where none exists."
NAPTIP then invited him to appear at their office for questioning. on May 30th, 2025.
After failing to appear on the scheduled day, Speed Darlington issued a statement in which he offered to appear at the end of June 2025.
"If the Agency requires further clarification, I undertake to avail myself at the Agency’s office on June 26th, 2025," he said.
However, the rapper failed to turn up again, which may have informed NAPTIP's decision to declare him wanted
"Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately," NAPTIP said.
However, a video has surfaced showing Speed Darlington in the U.S. having the time of his life, almost as if he had never been declared wanted by the agency.
In the video, he said, "I left Lagos girls for New York Girls."
