A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has said former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, "is now the new IPOB leader in the South East."
This was after Sowore announced a protest to seek the release of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
Kanu is being held by the Department of State Services (DSS), and is facing charges bordering on terrorism and treasonable felony.
Seeking his unconditional release, Sowore called on Nigerians to join him in a march to the effect, a call that IPOB has endorsed.
Reacting, Igbokwe reminded Igbo people of IPOB's alleged atrocities against them in their region.
"A member of the Anambra House of Assembly was beheaded by IPOB and his head hoisted in the particular Market in Amichi to put fear on our people," he said.
He also said no bona fide Igbo person would join Sowore's protest, because doing so would mean they are dancing on the grave of their kinsmen killed by Kanu and his criminal gangs.
He wrote on Facebook, "Any bona fide person with Igbo blood running inside him must not follow Omoyele Sowore to dance on the graves of hundreds of South East men and women killed by Nnamdi Kanu and his criminal gangs. Actions carry consequences."
