'Some were crying also' - Finally, Abia Gov Ikpeazu reacts to celebration galore after Alex Otti was declared winner of Abia polls

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has finally reacted to the massive celebration that trailed the victory of the candidate of the Labour Party, Dr. Alex Otti in the governorship election.

Dr. Otti was declared the winner of the polls 175, 465 votes to defeat Ambrose Okey Ahaiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party who had 88,529 votes.

Ahaiwe is the anointed candidate for the incumbent governor, Ikpeazu.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV on Thursday, March 30, Ikpeazu noted that despite the rife celebration in Abia after the declaration, there were people who were also sad at the outcome of the elections.

"As some people are rejoicing, some are crying also. Some of those that are rejoicing may be doing so because they have been out of power for eight years and they felt lost out in the scheme of things. So we know how this works in politics."

Otti was declared the winner by Prof Nnenna Oti, the Returning Officer of INEC for Abia State, after collation of the last LGA, Obingwa.

Otti’s victory did not come easy as his victory was delayed for four days, after the controversial 108,000 votes that came from Obingwa LGA, the home of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

But after a trip to Abuja by the top brass of INEC from Abia office, the controversial 108,000 votes from Obingwa were reduced to 20,000 valid votes by INEC with PDP scoring only 9,9 62 while Otti got 3,772.
