'Some so-called senior Senators got N500m each from 2024 Budget' - Senator Jarigbe reveals

The Senate was on Tuesday, March 12, thrown into disarray after Senator Agom Jarigbe made a wild claim against some senior senators.

During plenary, Senator Jarigbe revealed that some so-called senior senators received N500 million each from the 2024 budget.

He said this while lawmakers were deliberating on the recent allegation made by Senator Abdul Ningi that the 2024 budget was inflated by N3 trillion.

Jarigbe said shortly before his microphone was muted;

“We are going front and back on these issues concerning what came to our constituencies. If we want to go into those issues, all of us are culpable. Some so-called senior Senators here got 500M Naira each from the 2024 Budget, I am a ranking Senator, I didn’t get anything. Did I go to the press? Most of you got. No Senator has a right to accuse Senator Ningi.”

As he voiced his concerns, his colleagues spoke in protest and objection to his claim.

After much deliberation, the Senate suspended Abdul Ningi for three months.
