Social media user accuses APC of betraying Rivers State Gov following BBC's latest investigation

A social media user has called out the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for attempting to betray Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.

The allegation comes after Festus Keyamo, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment in a tweet said that the allegation of electoral malpractice in just one State cannot upturn the entire result of the election if it did not affect the declared result.

Recall that the BBC through its investigation said it has uncovered significant anomalies in Rivers state, a key battleground, although not sufficient to change the overall national outcome of the election, which took place in February.

The news report said there were also questions over the identity of an election official who read out some of the unexplained results.

BBC said further that it added up the voting tally sheets from over 6,000 polling stations in Rivers state, where many of the opposition complaints had been made.

While the official result in this state gave a clear majority to Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), our tally suggested that Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) had actually received the most votes in the state by a wide margin, BBC said.

Wike who is the governor of the state is rumored to have worked for the victory of the APC in the state since he fell out with his party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He had on several occasions stated that he would campaign for the opposition party to ensure victory against his party.

Meanwhile, Tonye Cole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor in Rivers State rejected the results of the election, and demanded that the electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should cancel the election because it did not reflect the choices and will of people of the state.
