Singer Olawale Ibrahim Ashimi, popularly known as Brymo, has declared himself the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, a title held by Iba Gani Adams.

In a video on social media, Brymo announced that he had carried out a coup against Adams for the position of Generalissimo of the Yoruba army.

According to him, Adams is undeserving of the title because he cannot protect Yorubaland.

The singer said, "As from today, I declare myself as the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland. I have impeached Gani Adams. Yoruba has no word for militants. We cannot allow him. We all remember what former President Olusegun Obasanjo did to OPC, all the boys that died... the young boys that died. We cannot call their boss 'Aare Onakakanfo'. He cannot take care of us, Yoruba people. There is no chance. I am the Aare Onakakanfo the 16th of Yorubaland. It will be pleasing to me if the Alaafin can approve it."

Brymo said this amid cries from Yoruba people of the Southwest following a bandit attack on several schools in Oyo State. The attack, carried out last week, led to the abduction of some schoolchildren, a principal and a teacher.
