Sinach tops Billboard Christian songwriters chart for seven weeks

Osinachi Joseph, popularly known as Sinach, has topped the Billboard Christan songwriters chart for seven weeks.

The worship leader at Loveworld is the first African to top the chart.

The 47-year-old shared her excitement over the feat on Twitter on Wednesday.

"So apparently We have been No 1 on billboard USA for Christian songwriter for 7 weeks !! Look at God!! First Black person. First from Africa … So grateful to God!! Thank you @billboard#loveworld @joe_egbu…’’ she tweeted.

The chart rankings are based on both online and physical sales, radio play and online streaming.

Davido achieved a similar feat in 2019 when his 2017 song, ’Fall’, became the longest-charting Nigerian pop song in Billboard history.

Sinach has performed in over 50 countries. She toured India in 2019. Her song, "Way Maker" has been covered by notable Gospel artists Artists like Michael W. Smith, Darlene Zschech, Leeland, Bethel Music, and Mandisa.

Waymaker is the second most-watched YouTube video in Nigeria
