New details have emerged about the final moments of late Nigerian gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, following her death on Monday, January 12, at a Lagos hospital.
Lanre Alewilese, a fellow gospel artiste and one of the closest people who stood by the singer during her illness, has broken his silence in an emotional video. He opened up about the painful experience of watching her health gradually decline, revealing that he deliberately stopped giving updates because the situation had become too heartbreaking to discuss.
According to Alewilese, Omije Ojumi’s condition did not improve but worsened rapidly. He disclosed that in the weeks leading to her death, the singer stopped opening her eyes and could no longer speak. He explained that each passing day felt heavier than the last, adding that sharing her condition publicly would only have deepened the pain of her supporters.
Meanwhile, another gospel singer, Alayo Melody, also reacted to the tragic loss. In a video shared on his social media pages on Thursday, January 14, he expressed deep gratitude to Nigerians, colleagues, prophets and well-wishers who stood by the late singer while she was alive.
Alayo also used the opportunity to address Nigerian prophets who frequently share death prophecies about celebrities on social media, urging caution and sensitivity.
The emotional videos have since sparked reactions online, as fans continue to mourn the loss of the beloved gospel singer.
