Wale Ajetunmobi, an aide to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has said if not for Seyi Tinubu, former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, won't have had a seat at the Vatican during the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.
The inauguration event held last Sunday, with President Bola Tinubu leading Nigerian delegates on the invitation of the Pope. The President was accompanied on the trip by his son, Seyi Tinubu.
A video from the event showed the moment Obi was bounced from stepping into the VVIP section of the event.
Despite being in the company of a compatriot, Cardinal Arinze, who put in word for him, Vatican guards still prevented his entrance.
However, according to a former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, Obi was later granted access after President Tinubu put in word for him.
Obi was then seen seated at the back and surrounded by the Nigerian delegates who accompanied President Tinubu who was seated at the front row.
Reacting, Sanwo-Olu's aide alleged that the seat Obi got was sacrifice for him by Seyi Tinubu.
He shared on X, "So, Seyi Tinubu saw PitObi in distress and respectfully yielded his own seat to minimise the embarrassment meted out to the gatecrasher… only for his bingos to be trolling the guy who rescued their dumb messiah from an undignified situation he brought to himself. ST try sha."
