The chairman of the Senate Committee on Youth and Community Engagement representing the APC for Ekiti South, Yemi Adaramodu, has emphasized the potential of the recently passed National Youth Service Corps Trust Fund Bill to create job opportunities for graduates.

During an official visit to the Oyo State NYSC Orientation Camp at Iseyin, Adaramodu led a delegation from the committee and shared insights about the bill’s progress. He mentioned that the bill, having successfully passed through first and second readings, as well as other legislative processes, is now awaiting the President’s assent.

Explaining the essence of the bill, Adaramodu highlighted its focus on ensuring that corps members are empowered through the skills acquired during the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development program. He also pointed out that the bill includes provisions to support corps members interested in starting their own businesses after their service year.

“The issue of unemployment and the uncertainty facing corps members after their service year will soon be a thing of the past. This bill will make the dreams of every Nigerian graduate a reality,” Adaramodu affirmed.

Furthermore, he disclosed the Senate’s intention to collaborate with relevant government departments, agencies, and stakeholders to initiate an upward review of corps members’ allowances.
