There is massive outcry across the country following the emergence of a list that details the current and previous prices of consumables.

This list comes following the hike in prices due to the depreciation of the naira and the removal of fuel subsidies.

On the list, the price of a sanitary pad rose by 128.6 percent, from an initial cost of N600 at the end of 2023 to N800 in the first quarter of 2024.

A loaf of bread which was sold at N1,300 in the fourth quarter of 2023, currently costs N1450, an increment of 81.3 percent.

A bag of rice which was sold at N49,400 is being sold at N77,000 for 50kg. These and many more have been listed causing uneasiness among citizens.

Reacting to the list, some Nigerians bemoaned the increment as they called on the federal government to tackle the hike.
