Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party has received lashes from the opposition parties over the scanty crowd at his Kogi mega rally.

On Tuesday, December 13, the Labour Party held their rally in Lokoja, Kogi state capital ahead of the 2023 election.

To their disbelief, few people came out to show their support for Peter Obi's presidency. Although he was present alongside his party members, the expectations for his usual large crowd was met with a shock.

Videos and photos of the scanty stadium has since hit the internet with the opposition having a laugh at Peter Obi over his recent predicament.

Reno Omokri, a spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party wasted no time to mock Peter Obi. He described the low turn out as an embarrassment to the Labour Party.

In a series of tweet, Reno Omokri wrote; “What a massive turn out for Peter Obi and the Labour Party in Kogi. 2023 is sure for Obi. Nothing can stop him from becoming President of the Federal Republic of Twitter!

“Peter Obi should stop embarrassing himself. There is no need to waste money paying for stadia for his rally. He should just use someone’s backyard next time. Or their living room. What is the point in gathering such a scanty crowd in such a large space?

“After what they saw in Kogi, it appears reality is beginning to dawn on Peter Obi and his Obidients. They are seeing the results of their threats, insults, and use of a so-called investigative journalist on their payroll to blackmail people. Wait until February!

A major supporter of Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress, Bashir Ahmad, also took a swipe at the Labour Party. He said, “The Labour Party presidential campaign rally in Kogi was a confirmation that Nigerian voters have completely rejected the Party and its candidate even before the polls. An embarrassing turnout, the stadium was sparsely populated, as if a local naming ceremony was taking place.
