Saraki's ally Sulyman Olatunji resigns from PDP

Organising Secretary of the Kwara state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a close ally of ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki, Mallam Sulyman Olatunji Buhari has resigned from the party.

Buhari’s resignation dated June 28, 2021, and was addressed to the PDP Chairman in the state Hon Kola Shittu

Buhari is a one-time chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).

He cited personal issues as reasons for his resignation from the party. It was gathered the politician recently relocated to Abuja.

“He feels with his relocation to Abuja he might not be able to cope with the organization of PDP at home. I am very sure he will announce his next political moves soon,” a source said.

Buhari’s close confidant, AbdulKareem Kokewukobere had since pitched his tent with a former Deputy National Chairman of CPC, Malam Salihu Mustapha who is now eyeing the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mallam Buhari was the Chairman of CPC in 2011 when the incumbent governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq was the governorship candidate of the party in the state.

Buhari’s letter of resignation reads: “I wish to inform you of my intention to resign from my position as the Organising Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.

“I have taken this decision to allow me to focus more on family and business interests. I thank the party leadership most sincerely for the opportunity to serve in various capacities in the last few years.”
