Sanwo-Olu receives Certificate of Return

The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented the issued Certificate of Return to the Lagos state Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

On Thursday, March 30, the governor and his deputy were accompanied by their wives to INEC’s office to receive their Certificate of Return to see them in office for another four years.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress beat his contenders from the Peoples Democratic Party and the Labour Party at the March 18 election to emerge as the winner, thereby retaining his seat.

Sanwo-Olu, polled 762134 votes to defeat his closest, Labour Party’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who polled 312,329 votes and Olajide Adediran of the People’s Democratic Party who scored 62,449 votes.

Speaking to the press, Sanwo-Olu called for calm and peaceful coexistence in the state and warned against religious and ethnic violence.
