Kano state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and the former Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, reportedly met at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday, August 1.
In 2020, Ganduje dethroned Sanusi on the bases that he was not the best man for the throne, alleging that the deposed emir was appointed to spite former President Goodluck Jonathan.
After two years of the incident, the two men met for the first time. In a video making rounds, the men were seen shaking hands at the lounge of the airport.
Recalls that the Kano state governor dethroned the monarch on March 9, 2020, over claims of “total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the governor”.
Sanusi was thereafter banished from Kano and sent to Loko, a remote community in Nasarawa state, while the expenses of the emirate under him were probed.
