The leader of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Chinedu Mayor Enujeko, has alleged that his cousin was assaulted, arrested and detained by officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a day after the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu announced the disbandment of the special force on Sunday, October 11, 2020.

Speaking in an interview on Channels TV, Enujeko said he had to threaten to direct protesters to the police station were his brother was kept before they were forced to release him.

"My brother was arrested by SARS people that is about four days ago - about four days ago and they were demanding for N400K for nothing."

"A day or two days after they were banned they stopped my own cousin and they took him and locked him up at the police station at the express at Delta State, Asaba, I just came into town yesterday," he said.

"So I went there and after much trouble, I told them that I am going to led a protest to the police station if you don't let him go. That was when they now released him."

His revelation comes as protesters across the country drive home their demand to stop the extrajudicial killings, battery, extortion and brutality on young Nigerians.

They are also demanding immediate reforms of the police service.
