Rufai Oseni reacts to ‘Village Boy Movement’ amid growing support for ‘City Boy’ campaign

Media personality and Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has shared his thoughts on the emerging “Village Boy Movement,” which surfaced in response to the pro-Tinubu “City Boy Movement.”

The City Boy Movement, reportedly championed by Seyi Tinubu, has attracted public backing from prominent businessmen, including Cubana Chiefpriest and Obi Cubana.

Speaking during a live broadcast, Oseni criticised the notion that financial strength alone can determine electoral success.

He described any belief that money solely dictates political outcomes as “delusional,” arguing that Nigeria’s last general election demonstrated that funding is not always the deciding factor.

According to the anchor, future elections will further test that assumption and reveal whether monetary influence truly outweighs public sentiment. He added that individuals are entitled to their opinions but maintained that political success cannot rest on financial power alone.

Oseni’s remarks have since fueled online debate, with some viewers speculating about possible financial backing for the City Boy Movement, while others applauded his stance.

Discussions also emerged around fellow broadcaster Reuben Abati, with critics alleging he appeared sympathetic to the City Boy narrative.
