Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that he was once held by Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho as a baby.
Iwobi, 29, is regarded as one of the most talented players in the current Super Eagles squad. Born in Lagos, he moved to England as a child, where he later joined the Arsenal academy.
He rose through the ranks at Arsenal, making his professional debut under Arsène Wenger in 2015. After four seasons with the Gunners, Iwobi moved to Everton, where he also spent four seasons before returning to London to join Fulham in 2023.
In an interview with Sun Sport, Iwobi disclosed that Ronaldinho held him as a baby during his mother's visit to see his uncle, Jay-Jay Okocha, during the Nigerian legend’s time at Paris Saint-Germain.
“What was mad was that I was in Barcelona and I saw Ronaldinho.
I said to my mum, ‘I see Ronaldinho.’
And she was like, ‘You know that he held you as a baby when he played for PSG with your uncle?’”
Jay-Jay Okocha played alongside Ronaldinho at Paris Saint-Germain during his stint with the French club from 1998 to 2002.
