Rivers Assembly set ablaze over alleged move to impeach Governor Fubara

Following the alleged move to impeach the Rivers state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and Leader of the House, Edison Ehie, the State House of Assembly was last night set ablaze by suspected political thugs.

According to report, a white Hilux van invaded the assembly complex at 9pm, disarmed the security officers and destroyed the burnt down the building which is said to be opposite the Headquarters of the State Command Police, on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

It has been gathered that the lawmakers had allegedly concluded plans to impeach Fubara and Ehie today, October 30, during it sitting.

Due to the incident, over 17 security trucks and four Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) with over 50 federal security personnel have been deployed to the facility.

Speculations suggest that there is a rift between current governor and his predecessor Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister.
