The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has reportedly arrived in the state to commence his duties.

President Bola Tinubu appointed Ibas as the administrator of Rivers on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, following the political crisis in the state.

He also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Ordu, and all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

President Tinubu's actions have sparked widespread criticism from notable personalities and the general public.

Some of those who have spoken out against the declaration of emergency in Rivers include, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and others.
