It is no news that Ghana is a second home to Nigeria, as many resorts to establishing businesses and collaborations in the art industry.

Nigerians are usually found not only in the schools but also in the market areas, engaging in buying and selling of goods and services.

These constant visits from Nigerians have made many ponder why they enjoy coming to Ghana, especially top celebrities who are known to take refuge in the country for vacations or to spend their holidays.

MyNigeria.com took to the street of Accra to ask Ghanaians the reason behind Nigerians frequent visits to the country.

A Ghanaian who had visited Nigeria said that he believes it’s the peace that exists in Ghana they love to enjoy, adding that Nigeria has been ravaged with several challenges from kidnappings, killings, clashes, police brutality and many more.

“It's only one reason Nigerians like to stay in Ghana and that is peace. I've stayed in Lagos for 12 years and I know how Nigerians behave. In Nigeria, there is no peace, armed robbers and many things going on in Nigeria which is not good.
This our country Ghana, there is peace. It's not like there is more money than Nigeria. There is better money in Nigeria but there is peace in Ghana more than Nigeria.”

Another Ghanaian noted that Ghana is blessed with lots of freedom to do trade without been harassed and deported and no visa is required.

“In Ghana, we sometimes love foreigners more than ourselves. So, when Nigerians come here, we even love them more than ourselves because our mindset is that one day you will also go there, what will happen over there, maybe how you take care of them over here would be the same thing going on there too.
Ghana, we love each other and we do so many kinds of business and so when Nigerians come here and the business is going on, you will also bring another friend to come and work.”

A trader at Circle, Tip Toe Lane said, despite having some good Nigerians with good behaviors there have been some bad nuts amongst the rest. According to him, he has made some Nigerian friends who he believes are of good behaviour.

“Ghana system is so cheap that everyone can leave in Ghana. Our security system is cheap, you can do whatever you want, you can go up and down and nobody will ask you a question.”

Although Ghanaians are excited at the presence of Nigerians in the country, they are, however, cautioning Nigerians to respect the laws set in the country and avoid any clashes or problems.

“We are only afraid that those who have broken out of prison in Nigeria should not come here and come and cause havoc in this country.”
