Kano Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has been asked to resign within 48 hours following the escalating issues in the State.

This was issued by some members of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) in the 19 northern states after a vote of no confidence was passed on the governor at an emergency meeting held on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

On Monday, April 15, 2024, the group insisted that Governor Yusuf had strayed from the party’s objectives and was no longer adhering to the blueprint of the NNPP’s development plans for the people of the state.

Attahiru Musa, the president of the group and its secretary, Simeon Pam, claim Governor Yusuf has started to deploy techniques of political vendetta and witch-hunting.

They raised concerns over the unrest, characterized by press interviews, protests, incitements, attacks on the judiciary, malicious remarks, institutional disruptions, visits to embassies, and road blockades, which have reached an alarming level.

The statement said;

“As stakeholders, we can no longer pretend that all is well when clearly, nothing is working. Kano State was supposed to be the model for the Federal Government to follow.”

According to the group, Kano state was meant to be the centre for good leadership and governance and would have challenged the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government but failed.

The group also claimed that Yusuf is not a registered member of the party as the Election Tribunal and Appeal Court ruled.
