Residents of Kaduna have called on the Nigerian Railway Corporation to halt the resumption of night operations on the Kaduna-Abuja rail route.

On Monday, January 1, the NRC announced plans to launch night operations before the second quarter of 2024.

According to the Managing Director of NRC, Fidet Okhiria, currently, there are running four trips, two up and two down across the board which will be extended to six.

However, some concerned Nigerians have taken to social media to express their displeasure at the new change in operations.

Former Senator Shehu Sani sharing his thoughts on the night operations, advised the Nigerian Railways against it. He wrote;

"I wish to advise the Nigerian Railways against the resumption of night operations on the Kaduna-Abuja rail route. We are okay with the morning and afternoon services; let our nights be for prayers at home with our families.
Thank you," Shehu Sani said.

Others said; "@simpleiykejnr: No time or day is even safe now, with all these everyday killings. I advice they shutdown till further notice."

@CollinxNnaemeka: Nah to avoid rail to that route be the best thing to do, human lives shouldn't be used to test run a process such as night travels via rail system.

@BStevyoma: In all that we do safety should be our watch word. Boss I truly buy this ur idea for the sake of safety. People mustn't travel at night not for now but later maybe ok.
