Former governor of Enugu state, Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, was left in shock when he was booed at a market during his campaign tour recently.

Chimaroke Nnamani who is representing Enugu East Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate met a hostile crowd during his visit to Coal Camp Spare Parts market in Enugu.

The residents who were displeased by the presence of the senator and his campaign team began to call him 'Onye Ohi' meaning 'thief'.

In a video making rounds the residents were seen chanting thief (onye ohi) as they followed a car which had a loud speaker repeating Chimaroke's name.

The video has since brought about reactions from some social media users.

Some believe he incurred the wrath of the residents as a result of his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC.

Which also led his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel him for endorsing the APC candidate.

Below are some comments from social media users;

Emeodi Mba wrote: “My former governor Chimaroke Nnamani is facing double sack, from his party PDP and Enugu state people. Imagine being called a thief for market square.”

Nweze Orji wrote: “Chimaroke Nnamani being called a thief and chased out of Coal Camp Enugu where he went to campaign. The people know who is a thief.”

Tom Steve wrote: “My sincere condolences to the most respected thief of Enugu state. Chima, your time is up. He could not come out of the vehicle to campaign. They where responding to ‘Chimaroke - Onye ori’”
