Renounce your Nigerian citizenship if Tinubu is not your President – Omokri says after Supreme Court ruling

Reno Omokri Reno Omokri

Former Presidential aide and member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked Nigerians who do not consider Bola Tinubu as their President to renounce their Nigerian citizenship and relocate to a country that can accommodate them.

He said this following the Supreme Court ruling on the election appeal by Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party that affirms President Tinubu as the winner of the general election held in February.

In the post shared on his X page on Friday, October 27, Omokri stated that although he prefers Atiku Abubakar and he would have been a better President, he congratulates President Tinubu on his Supreme Court victory.

Omokri was of the view that anyone who fails to recognize Tinubu as the President of Nigeria is committing a criminal offence.

He wrote;

“If you say Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not your President, renounce your Nigerian citizenship. Because the Supreme Court has settled the matter. He is now the undisputed Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and to deny that is no longer funny. It is criminal. It is an act of treason.

For the avoidance of doubt, and to provide clarity for those Millennials who may be influenced by influencers who have collected either monies or promises from certain persons, treason is defined as attempting to kill, undermine, overthrow, deny or by any unlawful means to unseat the sovereign or head of government of a nation.

Publishing that a duly elected President, affirmed by the highest court of the land, is not the President is not 'cruise' or a joke. Were you to try that in the Niger Republic, whose coup many of you celebrated, you would be shot!

If you know you cannot accept Bola Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, rather than try to turn the youths of Nigeria against constituted authority, you have only one recourse-renounce your Nigerian citizenship and go to a country that can tolerate you.

Part of political maturity involves knowing when and where to draw the line. It also means that, like me, you must be willing to accept realities you do not like. This is all about Nigeria. It is not about you, your Presidential candidate, your tribe, or your party.

I prefer Waziri Atiku Abubakar as President. I believe he would have been by far better than Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. However, as of today, Friday, October 27, 2023, I hereby congratulate President Tinubu and accept him as the undisputed President of Nigeria."
